USF receives area’s first ‘mindreading’ MRI machine
September 9, 2024 - The University of South Florida recently unveiled Tampa Bay’s first functional MRI machine with new innovative research capabilities, or “mindreading technology.” Congresswoman Kathy Castor secured $1 million in federal community project funding to support the purchase and advance regional brain disease prevention and treatment efforts. The new MRI machine measures activity in various parts of the brain as someone completes mental and physical tasks.
