USF St. Pete gets $5.5M grant for mental health training

August 26, 2019 - University of South Florida St. Petersburg's College of Education received a a $5.5 million grant to train elementary school personnel  on how to recognize and refer students with emotional or mental health difficulties. Under an agreement with the Florida Department of Education, the college will administer the program and fund the training at schools statewide. The college was selected to set up the program largely due to its experience with establishing a statewide network for student mental health services, a news release said.
