USF, Tampa General strengthen affiliation

July 24, 2020 - Tampa General Hospital and the University of South Florida agreed to align administrative and clinical practices in a new organization, as part of a just-signed affiliation agreement. The new affiliation will benefit patients across Tampa Bay by enabling the region’s only academic medical center to provide seamless, comprehensive care for patients, according to a joint statement from John Couris, Tampa General president and CEO, and Steve Currall, president of USF. The hospital and the university have worked closely together for nearly 50 years, and the new endeavor buildings on that relationship, a news release said. As part of the agreement, private practice physicians on staff at Tampa General will be able to get purchased services and management services through the new company. Next steps include launching a national search for an executive to lead the new organization and implementing clinical integration, the news release said.
