Wendy Wesley withdraws from City Council race

February 1, 2021 - Wendy Wesley, a registered dietitian with a passion for nutrition insecurity, chronic disease management and health equity, has withdrawn her candidacy for the District 4 seat on City Council. She cited concerns for the time required to properly fundraise and campaign while earning a living for herself and her son. This leaves Clifford Hobbs, a bartender at Birch & Vine, as the sole candidate in the race. Darden Rice, who currently occupies the District 4 seat, recently announced she will run for St. Pete mayor. Wesley, who has raised almost $5,000, said she will contact her donors to offer refunds or redirect their donations to charities.
