Arts Alive! podcast: Alex Harris

Few vocalists in the Tampa Bay area have the soulful inflection, power and emotion of St. Petersburg’s Alex Harris. He may actually be the most emotive rhythm ‘n’ blues singer in all of Florida.

Is it rhythm ‘n’ blues or soul music? That’s one of the questions put to Mr. Harris (actually, it’s Dr. Harris) during this edition of our Arts Alive! podcast.

He’s performing Saturday at the Palladium Theater, with opening sets from his friends Zo!, & Tall Black Guy and J. Brown. It’s called An Evening of Soul, and tickets can be located at this link.

Harris will release his first full-length album this spring.

Even more than a musical powerhouse, Harris is the co-founder and CEO of Arts Conservatory For Teens, which for nearly 12 years has been to top provider of after-school arts education for the area’s traditionally underserved young people.

He’s an educator, an administrator, an activist. And an exemplary musician.

Plus one heck of a nice guy.
