Bill DeYoung

Today’s guest on the Arts Alive! podcast is Chelsea Gallo, resident conductor for The Florida Orchestra. Gallo was hired a year ago as assistant conductor, by music director Michael Francis, and recently received a promotion.

In the interview, Gallo explains the duties and responsibilities of a resident conductor, and talks about her transition from symphony violinist to conductor, and all the hard work that had to come in between.

Earlier this month, she was at the baton for TFO’s Pops in the Park concert, in front of 15,000 people in Vinoy Park, and will repeat the performance Nov. 5 at River Tower Park in Tampa.
