St. Petersburg’s Tracy Kennard wears several hats – she’s Director of Development for the Palladium Theater, she’s the owner/operator of Your Virtual Footprint, a social media consultancy organization and – most important for the city’s cultural community – Kennard is Director of Marketing and Programs for the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance.

That umbrella organization provides a plethora of support services to the city’s many independent artists, from grant money to programming to public relations. The SPAA is responsible for, among other recurring events, the monthly Second Saturday ArtWalk, during which some 40 or so galleries (and private studios) open u, or extend their public hours, for a self-guided walking, driving or trolley-riding tour.

A social media pioneer, Kennard was also a co-founder of the ArtWalk, and is its monthly director. She our guest on this episode of the Arts Alive! podcast.

“This is the one evening per month that you can come out and actually see what’s happening behind the scenes, perhaps. A lot of people have different schedules. So it was an opportunity to reach a demographic or just groups of people that may be nine-to-fivers and they just never get out to an art gallery.”

The podcast covers the history, including the unfortunate pandemic times, of the Second Saturday ArtWalk and the Arts Alliance itself, as well as Kennard’s feelings about being an advocate and booster for a city, and a cultural climate, she one hundred percent believes in.
