Updated story: Arts organizations, event cancellations

Numerous shows and events across the bay area have been canceled, and some “postponed until further notice,” as the spread of coronavirus makes it prudent to avoid large crowds of people.

This story will be updated as more news comes in. Here’s what we know so far:

The Palladium Theatre has canceled everything through April 5, including the debut local appearances from cabaret stars Nellie McKay and Queenie van de Zandt, and the 2020 edition of Beacon Dance. The Listening Room Showcase, scheduled for March 27, has been moved to Nov. 13.

The David A. Straz Center has canceled all events until April 19. This includes Jobsite Theatre (in the Shimberg Theatre, the Jaeb Theatre, Morsani Hall … everything in the Straz complex).

The Florida Orchestra has canceled all concerts through (at least) April 5.

St. Petersburg Opera Company postponed the Creative Collaborations concerts that were scheduled for March 13 and 14.

The Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg is closed until further notice.

The Salvador Dali Museum is closed through March 31.

The Florida Holocaust Museum is closed through March 29.

The St. Petersburg Museum of History is closed through April 1.

The James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art is closed until further notice.

Ruth Eckerd Hall is closing its doors until (at least) the third week in April. Many shows have already been rescheduled. Here’s a website with a complete (as of now) rundown.

freeFall Theater cancels the remainder of the run of Lone Star Spirits and temporarily suspends operations until further notice.

American Stage has canceled all events and performances, including The People Downstairs, until further notice.

The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance canceled trolley service for the March 14 Second Saturday ArtWalk. Numerous gallery/studios have announced they will not be open for the event, including Florida CraftArt, ArtLofts, Duncan McClellan Gallery, Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, Arts Xchange, Creative Clay, Mirella Cimato Gallery and Five Deuces Galleria.

Stageworks Theatre has postponed the production of 12 Angry Men, scheduled to begin the weekend of March 20.
