Bein’ green: Everything’s coming up Irish

This story has been updated from its original version, to reflect the River O’Green Festival’s rescheduled date (Friday).
The beer – much of it green – will be flowing like wine this weekend as taverns, restaurants and party places celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The good ol’ Feast of St. Patrick falls on March 17 every year. That’d be this Friday.
As far as public Irish-themed celebrations, St. Petersburg’s got Paddy Fest, in Williams Park. Hours are 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Friday, and admission is $5. Only 21 and up will be admitted after 5 p.m.
Everyone (of age) gets a green beer on the house, and the day includes live entertainment (and step dancing!), food trucks and other culinary delights (expect lots of corned beef and cabbage), as well as Celtic-themed games and art.
Proceeds benefit Ocean 360, a conservation organization that provides virtual reality experiences to schools, museums and libraries.
In Tampa, the Hillsborough River is dyed green for the annual River O’Green Fest (that pretty much sums it up), a free event from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday (this is a rescheduled date). This takes places in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, with live music, stuff for kids, food trucks (and beer trucks).
