A collection of works by celebrated British pop artist David Hockney goes on exhibit Thursday at the Tampa Museum of Art.

David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed consists of more than 140 works spanning six decades, including prints, collages, photographs and iPad drawings.

Hockney (1937-2026) created bold, fearless and challenging work. “Ranging from intimate portraits and sunlit swimming pools to theatrical designs, extensive landscapes, and lively interiors, the exhibition offers visitors a detailed look at Hockney’s curiosity, sense of humor, and constant inventiveness,” reads the museum’s exhibition statement.

Shifting shapes

St. Pete artist and muralist Chris Parks (aka Palehorse) will have his first solo exhibition in a decade, kicking off Oct. 10, at the Morean Art Center.

Shapeshifter traces Palehorse’s creative journey from internationally commissioned commercial  illustrator to studio artist and spiritual seeker.

A concurrent opening, Practice Dying: A Skull & Bones Exhibit, was curated by Palehorse and Michelle Tannu and consists of contributions from 30 local and artists, using the human skull and skeleton as a launching pad for artistic meditations of life, change and what lies within.

There will be a reception for both exhibitions 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, which happens to be the same day and approximate time of the monthly Second Saturday ArtWalk.

Built by pharmaceutical pioneer Rudy Ciccarello, it houses his Two Red Roses Foundation’s private collection of art from early 20th Century America – decorative and fine arts produced by individual artists, craftsmen and companies of the period. It is the only museum in the world dedicated to such exquisititely crafted furniture, pottery, ceramic tiles and architectural faience, metalwork, woodblocks, fine art, lighting, textiles and leaded glass, along with photographs and photogravures.

Alonso Architects, designers of the origional facility, are responsible for the addition. It’s expected to be ready by late 2026, into the new year.
