ArtWalk time again

For the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, Nov. 11 being the second Saturday means it’s Second Saturday ArtWalk time again. Cooler weather this time around, too.

As always, from 5 to 9 p.m., more than 40 artist galleries and studios will be open and expecting you to drop in for a visit. Here’s the Arts Alliance’s handy map for November.

New exhibits

Water Relics, an exhibition of watercolors by St. Louis artist Carol Carter (a former Tampa Bay resident) opens with a 5-8 p.m. reception Friday at Soft Water Gallery, on the ArtsXchange campus of the Warehouse Arts District. The new works feature Florida birds and other Sunshine State creatures.

In 2019 American Women Artists and the Heartland Art Club each honored Carter with Master Signature Member status. She has exhibited her work in Europe, China, Hong Kong, USVI, Morocco and throughout the United States, and serves on the advisory board of American Watercolor Weekly.

“Undertow,” 2023 by photographer Suzanne Williamson, part of the Creative Artists Collective exhibit in Ybor City.

In Hillsborough: Sixteen women artists are featured in A Decade At the Table, opening today at the Ybor City Kress Building, 2nd floor. It’s a 10th anniversary exhibit for the Creative Artists Collective, three of whom maintain full-time studios in the Kress Building.

The four-day show features an opening reception Thursday,  6-9 p.m.; Saturday’s closing reception (1-3 p.m.) will include an artist talk and performance with poetry and dance.

Work includes drawing, painting, photography, poetry, mixed media, dance, choreography and sculpture. The Kress Building is at 1624 E 7th Ave., Tampa.

Looking ahead

Nov. 18 brings the highly anticipated Dalí & the Impressionists: Monet, Renoir, Degas & More to the Dali Museum. It’s the latest world-class exhibit to reach our shores, with Impressionist masterworks on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (22 paintings from 18 artists). Watch this space for more very soon.

The 26th annual Florida CraftArt Festival, featuring original works in ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, mixed media and wood, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18 and 19 at the Florida CraftArt gallery downtown. Find details here.
