Omar Malic has been a St. Petersburg resident since 2014 and currently works full-time at a roofing company. He also decided to launch his own junk removal business, OVM Hauling Co., a few months ago.
Malic announced Monday on social media that the organization will begin recycling and donating some objects collected during projects. For the entrepreneur, it’s a way to make a positive impact on the community.

For five years, St. Petersburg had an extra $45.4 million to spend on some of the city’s hardest problems, from homelessness and housing costs to hunger and access to mental health care. By the end of this year, that money will be gone. The problems it helped address will not.
St. Petersburg City Council members got a look at that approaching deadline Thursday during a Youth and Family Services Committee meeting. As they reviewed what the federal money paid for, the discussion turned toward what happens after it runs out. Some investments will last for decades. Other services need someone to keep paying for them, and St. Petersburg will not be alone looking for money.

Stopping by the Arts Alive! podcast studio today is author Tamara Lush, a.k.a. Tara Lush, who’s written somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 books (she’s not sure of the exact number).
Lush is among the gaggle of authors who’ll be at the FloridaRAMA Literary Festival Saturday, to meet, greet and otherwise hobnob with readers, and sell (hopefully) and sign (definitely) books.
