Local preservationist Robin Reed honored at Council meeting

Passionate about preservation efforts, Robin Reed held many community positions in St. Petersburg.

Reed, who died March 24 at 81, was honored at the St. Petersburg City Council’s Thursday meeting.

Gabbard releases sweeping mayoral policy platform

St. Petersburg City Councilmember Brandi Gabbard is rolling out what may be the most expansive policy platform yet in the city’s mayoral race, unveiling a broad vision centered on climate resilience, housing reform, infrastructure modernization and local control.

The platform reflects themes Gabbard has spent years building on City Council, but packages them into a more comprehensive governing philosophy as she positions herself against incumbent Mayor Ken Welch.
