Electronic dance music festival coming to Vinoy Park
The L.A.-based beatmaker, producer and DJ Mr. Carmack is among the headliners at Saturday’s second annual Odyssey Music Festival, in bayfront Vinoy Park.
Aaron Carmack’s calling card, according to allmusic.com, is “introspective, downtempo hip-hop and R&B as well as more aggressive, bass-heavy material.”
Set across three separate stages – Rawsome, Wave and the Odyssey Stage – the event is a celebration of underground house, bass and other forms of EDM (electronic dance music).
Festival co-founder Thomas Greco runs Rawsome Recordings, and on a promotional video he explained that producing an outdoor festival, as an extension of his label, was a longtime desire.
“It was definitely a far-fetched dream of mine since I started producing music and DJing,” Greco explained. “I went to my first music festival when I was 18 – I went to Ultra Music Festival in Miami, which is still one of the best music festivals in the world.
“And I distinctly remember looking up onstage and being like ‘I want to be there one day.’”
Saturday’s event, at 701 Bayshore Dr N., begins at 2 p.m. There will be a vendor village and local art components. Find tickets, and additional information, here.
Headliners also include Sidney Charles, MADVILLA, SAKA, Ms. Mada, slug, GRECO and BACKWHEN.
