Join fine artists Larry Busby and Berkeley Grimball for a night of inspired photography and innovative live music in the beautiful and historic Catherine A. Hickman Theatre of Gulfport this Friday, October 1 from 6pm-8pm for 'A Gulfport Sight and Sound Experience II.' The event is a fundraiser for the Gulfport Historical Society, one of Gulfport's most beloved non-profit institutions.
Larry Busby is a professional fine arts photographer whose images appear regularly in St. Pete Life Magazine, St. Pete Catalyst and other notable publications in addition to the Gabber Newspaper in Gulfport, where he's recently accepted a position photographing the beachside town's public events and private happenings. Larry enjoys capturing the charm of "Old Floridascapes" and his medium is photographs etched on aluminum. His work has been has displayed at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Florida Museum of Photographic Art, Tampa University's Scarfone/Hartley Gallery and other venues and galleries throughout the West Coast of Florida.
Fine jeweler and multi-talented musician Berkeley Grimball leads the Pod Harp Orchestra, who will perform live on the stage during the event. Berkeley invented the pod harp earlier this year, combining elements of traditional stringed instruments and percussion and modeled after a West African harp, the Kora. Both artists are also part of this year's Fifth Annual ArtJones Open Studio Tour, taking place December 4-5 across artist studios in Gulfport.
The benefit features complimentary food from Gulfport favorite Tutto Benne and a cash bar operated by the City of Gulfport. To learn more about the event and the Gulfport Historical Society and the event, please visit gulfporthistoricalsociety.org.
