Latin America and Surrealism
Join us for this installment of our Coffee with a Curator series, where Museum Staff or invited guests speak on a range of Dalí-inspired topics. This month’s lecture will feature Dr. Adriana Novoa, author and Associate Professor of Latin American History at the University of South Florida.
This lecture will discuss the trajectory of the avant-gardes in Latin America to locate the place of Surrealism in the development of modern art. Also, it will provide a background to understanding the artistic movements that emerged in Uruguay and how they influenced the work of Yamandú Canosa, particularly in terms of space and geographical positionality that informed the Museum’s current exhibition, The Visit.
Location: The Dalí Museum’s Will Raymund Theater (registration required), with overflow seating available in the Raymond James Community Room or live on YouTube (link below).
Organized by The Dali Museum
