This session is designed to provide nonprofit professionals with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to develop and implement effective communications and public relations initiatives. Participants will learn how to leverage various communication channels to engage stakeholders, build awareness of their organization and programs, and advance the organization's mission. 

Learning Goals:

  • Participants will understand the role of communications in their organization. 
  • Participants will be able to identify various communication channels and the purposes of each. 
  • Participants will identify the key features of a strong website, social media platform, email newsletter, and press release. 
  • Participants will learn to incorporate data for impactful storytelling. 
  • Participants will begin to create a multimedia communication strategy to amplify a current project or meet a specific need in their organization. 
  • Participants will understand how to write a press release and strategies to reach the appropriate audiences. 
  • Participants will learn how to effectively engage with media, including media preparedness strategies.
