Embark on a exploration of ekphrastic poetry with FMoPA’s Ekphrastic Workshops. Led by renowned poet Gianna Russo, this two-hour session offers participants of all levels an immersive experience into the fusion of visual art and literary expression. Through structured discussions, curated gallery walks, and interactive writing sessions, attendees will hone their craft in creating poignant poems inspired by the Museum’s photographic exhibits. Perfect for aspiring poets and seasoned writers alike, this workshop provides platform to refine your artistic prowess under the expert tutelage of an esteemed poet and educator.

Meet the Educator
Gianna is a lifelong educator. She co-created the creative writing program at Blake School of the Arts in Tampa, where she taught for 10 years. Currently, Gianna is Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing at Saint Leo University and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the university’s literary magazine, Sandhill Review. A third-generation Tampa native, a mother and grandmother, Gianna lives in an almost 100-year-old bungalow with her husband Jeff Karon and their cat Gingko.
