Award-winning British author and comedian David Baddiel will address the character and dangers of rising antisemitism at The Florida Holocaust Museum in the latest installment in the Richard Rappaport Family Antisemitism Lecture Series.

Baddiel began his career as writer and star of BBC2 shows The Mary Whitehouse Experience and Newman and Baddiel in Pieces, going on to co-create the hugely successful Fantasy Football League and Baddiel & Skinner Unplanned while featuring on panel shows including Would I Lie to You?, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and QI.

His 2021 bestselling book “Jews Don’t Count” explores the exclusion of Jews from social justice movements, including how many view antisemitism as separate from other forms of bigotry.

Baddiel will speak with FHM Interim Executive Director Erin Blankenship about the rise in antisemitism and how antisemitism does not fit into traditional narratives and perceptions of racism. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session following the presentation.

This lecture event is free and open to the public.

"Mr. Baddiel brings a vital perspective to discussions of antisemitism,” said FHM Chairman Mike Igel. “Irreverence and satire have characterized Jewish humor for centuries, and his incisive commentary is vital in the face of rapidly increasing hate.”

The event will take place on the third anniversary of the Tree of Life synagogue shooting, which occurred in Pittsburgh on October 27, 2018. After that tragedy, Richard Rappaport and his family committed to underwriting a ten-year lecture series at FHM to examine antisemitism.
