First look at the newest downtown St. Pete shared workspace
COHatch, an Ohio-based shared workspace provider, has unveiled plans for its downtown St. Petersburg site.
COHatch St. Petersburg will be the company’s first location outside the Midwest. It will be followed by sites in Tampa and in Lakeland, the company said.
CRDV St. Petersburg, an entity associated with COHatch, bought a building at 15 8th St. N. on March 19 for $2.25 million, as the St. Pete Catalyst was first to report last week. The four-story, 14,000-square-foot structure was originally built as a hotel in 1925, in the first years of St Petersburg 1920s boom.
“We’ve been careful in our consideration of expansion sites that reflect our local focus and community drive,” Matt Davis, COHatch co-founder and CEO, said in a news release. “That sense of community connectivity and pride is evident here in Tampa and aligns beautifully with the work we’re doing to help communities balance work, family, well-being, community and philanthropy.”
COhatch buildings include private offices, coworking spaces, meeting rooms and special event spaces. See renderings in the gallery below.
The local sites will emphasize the company’s “every neighborhood connected” strategy to accommodate office trends, including evolving hybrid and work-from-home models. The sites also can provide a home base for the increasing number of freelancers to large corporations.
COhatch spaces are available to the community for personal events after work hours and on weekends. Rental fees fund scholarships to local non-profit organizations through the COhatch GIVE Scholarship program, which provides scholarships in each market annually to nonprofits supporting issues related to human trafficking, domestic violence, homelessness, and developmental disabilities, among others.
The Tampa-St. Pete additions will bring COhatch’s total number of locations open or under development to 25. The company is targeting 10 to 20 sites per market in its expansion planning.
