If you’re searching for ways to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Think Big for Kids Volunteer Open House

Think Big for Kids was founded in 2016 in the Tampa Bay market and is now a national nonprofit that partners with companies across numerous industries to provide awareness, guidance and support that young people need, to achieve their post-graduation goals and excel in today’s workforce.

The local chapter is hosting a volunteer open house and trivia night, Thursday, Nov. 13 from 5 until 7 p.m. at 3 Daughters Brewing, 222 22nd Street S., St. Petersburg. Participants will learn about volunteer opportunities and meet like-minded professionals and community leaders who are involved in giving back.

This free event includes complimentary appetizers and one drink ticket per guest. Participants are welcome to stick around following the open house for Trivia Night.

Volunteer for The Big Cleanup Clearwater

Each fall, Keep Pinellas Beautiful and the City of Clearwater host the week-long Big Cleanup Clearwater (BCC), the city’s largest community-wide cleanup. The BCC is a family-friendly event where all residents, businesses, visitors and community organizations are invited to clean the City’s parks, trails, beaches, neighborhoods and waterways. This year’s event runs from Nov. 14-22.

On Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 until 11 a.m., volunteers are needed for the Spring Branch Neighborhood Association park and neighborhood cleanup. Participants will meet at the vacant lot at the corner of Sunset Point Rd. and Betty Ln. and should arrive a few minutes early to get signed in.

Volunteers are asked to wear closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Cleanup supplies will be provided and a water refill station will be available. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

“Find Your Play Style!” with Essence of the Butterfly Foundation

The mission of Essence of the Butterfly Foundation is to teach mindfulness to children through nature connection, art and play.

The Foundation is workshopping a new teen program, “Find Your Play Style!”  Volunteers are needed to attend a practice run and serve as “guinea pigs” for this program.

The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Safety Harbor Library, Meeting Room A, 101 2nd Street N., Safety Harbor.

All ages are welcome; however, volunteers must be 16 years or older to participate.

Volunteer or donate to Positive Impact ST. PETE

Through advocacy, education and direct support, Positive Impact ST. PETE works to ensure that children and their families – regardless of economic status – have access to nutritious food and that no child is at risk of chronic diseases in adulthood due to inadequate nutrition.

Every Saturday, hundreds of families drive through the non-profit’s grocery distribution event held at Tangerine Plaza, 1770 22nd Street S., St. Petersburg. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. to sort food, pack grocery boxes and load cars with food.

Children ages 8 to 12 who want to volunteer must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult chaperone.

Food can be donated every Friday from 8 until 10 a.m. at the Tangerine Plaza location, and cash donations are always welcome.

Drive a tram at Morton Plant Hospital

Morton Plant Mease Health Care is seeking volunteers to drive a tram around the Morton Plant Hospital campus to help customers, patients and team members get to their destination in a timely manner.

Volunteers must be willing to commit to one four-hour shift once a week. Two shifts are available: 8 until 11:45 a.m. and 12 until 4 p.m.

Participants must be 18 years or older and have a valid drivers license. A background check and attending an orientation are required.

Morton Plant Hospital is located at 300 Pinellas St., Clearwater.
