If you’re searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Send Happy Thoughts to Seniors

Folks are encouraged to write cards with messages of hope and love for Neighborly’s large list of clients. Your words can literally brighten someone’s day.

The notes can be mailed or delivered to Neighborly’s  office at 13945 Evergreen Ave., 4th Floor, Clearwater, FL, 33762. Volunteers will then sort and distribute the notes among sites in the region.

Paws for Literacy

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay’s Paws for Literacy program gives kids the chance to improve their reading skills while spending time with shelter pets. Children ages 5 and up are paired with animals who listen to the children reading stories. Shelter officials also believe the socialization helps shelter pets get adopted and integrate into their new families more easily.

This free program includes reading stools, books, and treats for the pets; kids are also welcome to bring their own favorite books. Learn more and sign up here: humanesocietytampa.org/service/paws-for-literacy.
