Five ways to give back and get involved in St. Pete

If you’re searching for a way to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.
Sea Turtle Protect the Nest Clean Up Event at Indian Rocks Beach

Join Keep Pinellas Beautiful and GreenTown Kids to help out with protecting the sea turtle nests at Indian Rocks Beach, along with cleaning up the beach and the community. All are welcome. Necessary supplies and snacks will be provided by the organizers, but it is recommended that you wear sunscreen and bring a reusable water bottle to help combat the Florida sun. Most importantly, wear a big smile. Additionally, you may bring some extra cash for the 50/50 charity raffle.
This event takes place Sunday, May 18th from 10 a.m. to noon at Indian Rocks Beach. Parking will be available.

Sunset Memorial Day Beach Cleanup

Are you looking for a fun and productive way to spend your Memorial Day this year? What better way to celebrate then by giving back to the community? Join Treasure Island – Adopt a Beach and Keep Pinellas Beautiful in cleaning up Treasure Island Beach this holiday weekend.
All necessary supplies will be provided based on availability, so although everything you may need will be there, it may be smart to bring your own buckets, pickers, gloves or trash bags if you’re able to. Additionally, there will be a water station on site with cold, filtered water, so make sure to bring your own refillable water bottle in order to stay hydrated. There is a bathroom on the premises.

Ready to be part of something magical? Become a Girls Rock volunteer and join the revolution by helping girls and gender-expansive kids step into their power. Whether you are seasoned crew or brand new to Girls Rock, connect with our chosen family of volunteers at our annual “Brewhaha” event, which is part social, part volunteer training, and ends with a rowdy arm-wrestling tournament for prizes and glory.
This event takes place Saturday, May 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Outcast Brewing. If you’re interested in volunteering with Girls Rock, this informational session is mandatory for first-time volunteers.
The Girls Rock Summer Camp runs from July 14 to 18 and ends with an epic concert at Jannus Live Saturday, July 19. We need musicians, and also therapists, nurses, photographers, event planners, creative builders, street team crew, crafty ladies, ladies who aren’t ladies and so much more. Oyster Shell Recycling with Tampa Bay Watch
Tampa Bay Watch is seeking the help of a few tenacious volunteers to support its Shells for Shorelines program. Volunteers are needed to assist in collecting oyster shell donations from Tampa Bay Watch’s partner restaurants on a weekly basis, Monday – Friday during business hours. This opportunity is mostly flexible for your schedule. Responsibilities include picking up the shells, dropping them off at the curing pad and delivering clean buckets to the restaurants.
It is strongly recommended that volunteers have the ability to lift 35 pounds, some sort of personal vehicle (preferably a pickup truck) capable of carrying up to 10 five-gallon buckets, and are comfortable with Florida flora and fauna typically associated with decomposition of organic matter. Additionally, a required training is offered on Fridays at 8 a.m. by riding along with our staff on their route, meeting in Tierra Verde.
