If you’re searching for ways to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

World Oceans Day volunteers needed

Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Clearwater Marine Aquarium are seeking volunteers to assist with the World Oceans Day Celebration, taking place at the aquarium Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Volunteers will help with exhibitor booth set-up and take-down, and manning tables at Keep Pinellas Beautiful and the Youth Advisory Council booths, providing information on programming and how to get involved. Two shifts are available: 8:30 a.m. until noon; and 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All participants must attend a mandatory training Monday, June 1 at 7 p.m. at the Keep Pinellas Beautiful office, 5090 66th Street N., St. Petersburg.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is located at 249 Windward Passage, Clearwater. There will be a $15 fee to park in the Clearwater Marine Aquarium parking garage.

Clam Bayou Nature Park invasive removal

The City of Gulfport, in partnership with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, is hosting an invasive removal at Clam Bayou Nature Park, Saturday, May 23 from 9 until 11 a.m. Volunteers will assist with removing invasive vegetation in order to help the local ecosystem thrive.

Closed toe shoes such as boots or sneakers, long pants, long sleeve shirts, a hat and sunglasses are recommended.

All supplies will be provided including gloves, sunscreen, bug spray and hand sanitizer. A water refill station will be available.

Participants under the age of 18 need to be signed in by a parent or guardian. Volunteers under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of the event.

Clam Bayou Nature Park is located at 29th Avenue S. and Miriam Street S., Gulfport. Free parking is available onsite.

Sol Relief fundraiser

Sol Relief, Inc. is a St. Peterburg nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing immediate and effective disaster relief through its aviation network in collaboration with local communities and partner organizations. It focuses on providing last-mile air logistics and supports locally-led initiatives for longterm recovery.

From 4:30 until 7:30 p.m., Sol Relief is holding its 8th Annual Happy Hour and Hurricane Relief Fundraiser Friday, June 5 at The Hangar Restaurant & Flight Lounge at Albert Whitted Airport.

This annual event is an opportunity to get together with friends and supporters while helping Sol Relief prepare for hurricane season and future response efforts.

Live music will be provided by St. Petersburg’s Eric Swanson Band.

The Hangar Restaurant & Flight Lounge is located at 540 1st Street S., St. Petersburg.

10th Annual C&C Lemonade Factory benefits All Children’s Hospital

Sisters Caroline and Charlotte Gallagher, along with their family, are hosting the 10th Annual C&C Lemonade Factory, Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. to raise money to support cancer research at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

Caroline was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 18 months old and is now in remission. Each summer she and her sister, helped by mom and dad, set up their lemonade stand in their front yard. The event includes activities for kids, including face painting and balloon art, popcorn and raffles. 100% of all lemonade and raffle sales will be donated to the hospital.

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve seeks board members

Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is seeking volunteers to join their Board of Directors. Volunteers must be ages 18 or older, have an active Friends of Boyd Hill membership (or become a member once elected), reside in the Tampa Bay area and have a demonstrated respect for Florida native wildlife.

The board is looking for members to provide financial oversight, help the Creative and Outreach Director with educational exhibits and social media content, engage with the community and increase awareness throughout Tampa Bay, and assist with event planning, fundraising, grant writing and connecting with South St. Petersburg public schools.
