Five ways to give back and get involved in St. Pete

If you’re searching for a way to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

The Little Free Library at Great Explorations

A Little Free Library, located at the Great Explorations Children’s Museum, is looking for volunteers to distribute books for children and toddlers every two weeks for six months. Approximately 40 books are needed each month. The Little Free Library will provide tips for free or low-cost sources for books.

The library can be stocked anytime during the museum’s lobby hours: Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., or Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The address is 1925 4th Street N., St. Petersburg.

Fusion 49th District Cleanup

Fusion 49th District, along with the City of Gulfport, the City of St. Petersburg and Keep Pinellas Beautiful, are seeking volunteers for a 49th St. community cleanup Saturday May 31 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. This event is part of Keep Pinellas Beautiful’s 2025 Great American Cleanup, taking place through June 30.

Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing, and bring sun protection. All cleanup supplies will be provided by Keep Pinellas Beautiful. A water refill station will be available.

Participants will meet at Trolley Market Square, 4900 Tangerine Avenue S., Gulfport at 9 a.m. It is recommended to arrive early in order to sign in and collect gear. Parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged.

World Oceans Day Celebration

Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Clearwater Marine Aquarium are seeking volunteers to help with the Aquarium’s World Oceans Day Celebration taking place Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Volunteers will help with exhibitor booth set-up and take-down and to man booths for Keep Pinellas Beautiful and the Youth Advisory Council, and provide information on programming and how to get involved.

Two shifts are available:

8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. (includes helping all exhibitors with set-up)
11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (includes helping all exhibitors with break-down).

All volunteers must attend a training June 5 at 7 p.m. at the Keep Pinellas Beautiful office, 5900 66th Street N., St. Petersburg.

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is located at 249 Windward Passage, Clearwater. Parking is available in the garage for $15.

Morean Arts Center Glass Gallery Greeter

The Morean Arts Center is seeking volunteers for its glass studio. Greeters welcome guests into the studio, assess their needs and direct them to the hot shop for glass demonstrations.

They act as a liaison by answering questions about the studio or other programming offered by the center. Volunteers are the catalyst for a positive museum experience by helping guests feel welcome and engaged with art.

Gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m. and volunteers are needed from 11:45 a.m. until 4 p.m. Expect to be standing for long periods of time which maintaining a positive, friendly attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Beach Sticker and Graffiti Removal

Volunteers are needed to help remove graffiti and stickers from electrical boxes, light poles, etc. on Clearwater Beach in an effort to keep the beach bright and beautiful. This is a monthly project occurring the first Saturday of every month from May through August.

The next event takes place Saturday, June 7 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Pier 60 Park, Causeway Blvd., Clearwater Beach.

Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. It is also recommended to bring sunscreen, hats, and reusable water bottles.

Additional details will be emailed to registrants closer to the date of the project.
