AARP Driver Safety Instructors and District Coordinators

AARP is searching for volunteers to organize and teach AARP Smart Driver classroom courses at local community centers, libraries, hospitals and senior centers. Volunteers are asked to be able to dedicate at least 10 hours to the program each month, have internet access and an email account. While the volunteer positions are unpaid, volunteers are reimbursed for approved out-of-pocket expenses, such as mileage, parking and basic supplies. Click here for more information.

Forty-four percent of 3rd grade students in Pinellas County are reading below grade level. The YReads literacy program provides kindergarten through 8th grade students with the reading instruction they need to succeed. According the the YMCA, 98% of students in the program see quantifiable progress in their reading skills and progress to the next grade level, and you can help make that happen.

Volunteers serve as reading mentors and choose two one-hour sessions weekday afternoons after school. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Learn more here.
