Five ways to give back and get involved in St. Pete

If you’re searching for a way to give back, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.
Humane Society Launching Teen Care Team
The Humane Society of Pinellas, located at 3040 FL-590, Clearwater, is initiating a “Teen Care Team” and is seeking volunteers, ages 15-18, to join.
Teens will clean and organize the facility, feed animals, restock supplies, sort donations, do laundry, maintain outdoor spaces and assist with light clerical work.
This is a great opportunity to earn volunteer hours, gain experience and support the care of over 2,500 animals each year. Selected participants will be invited to attend an orientation in mid-June. Volunteer opportunities are available on a limited basis.
Along with filling out the volunteer form, applicants are asked to submit a one-paragraph explanation of why they would like to participate in the program. Click here to apply.
Swing for the (Florida) Dream (Center)
The Florida Dream Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the needs of Pinellas County’s most vulnerable population, is presenting Swing for the Dream, a fundraiser at TopGolf St. Pete Sunday, June 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Proceeds will help deliver food to homebound and low-income residents, provide cleanup in struggling neighborhoods, offer case management and social services and equip individuals with job placement training.
Whether you’re a golfer or just want to connect and support the cause, Swing for the Dream is a unique opportunity to give back. TopGolf St Pete is located at 220 Carillon Pkwy, St. Petersburg.

St. Pete Free Clinic Volunteer Opportunities
The St. Pete Free Clinic (SPFC) offers volunteer opportunities to help with its We Help FRESH Pantry and Health and Dental Center.
The We Help FRESH Pantry provides fresh and nutritious produce, meats, dairy, food staples and hygiene items for free to any Pinellas County resident in need. Volunteers help greet and check in clients, organize and bag food items, place pantry guides in various departments and load vehicles. Those 15 and under must be accompanied by a vetted adult volunteer.
The SPFC Health and Dental Center offers dental care services for uninsured adults. Professional volunteer opportunities are available for nurses, specialists, primary care doctors, dentists and dental assistants. Non-licensed volunteers are needed for intake and front desk support. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Keep Pinellas Beautiful Ambassador Program
Keep Pinellas Beautiful (KPB) is searching for local leaders to become KPB Ambassadors to promote environmental stewardship and empower residents to help conserve our environment. Ambassadors help establish, maintain and supervise the gardening, microplastics, education and cleanup programs.
All interested volunteers are required to join a virtual Zoom session to learn more about how to get involved with KPB events.
The next orientation is Tuesday, June 24 at 7 p.m. Click here to reserve a spot.
Dunedin’s Casa Tina Hosts Fundraiser for Film Festival
On Monday, June 16 from 5 to 10 p.m., Casa Tina Mexican restaurant in downtown Dunedin is hosting a fundraiser to support the Dunedin International Film Festival. The goal is to help the festival reach its end-of-year benchmark, which supports venue costs, filmmaker hospitality and year-round programming. The festival showcases independent films in local venues, including the Fenway Hotel, HOB Brewing Co. and the Scottish Cultural Center.
Casa Tina will donate 20% of all restaurant proceeds during the five-hour event. The restaurant is located at 365 Main St., Dunedin. Tickets are not required, but donations are accepted. Click here for more information.
