Five ways you can give back this week

The Independence Day holiday is upon us, and there’s no better way to show you care than by giving back to your community. If you’re searching for the perfect volunteer opportunity, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that are in need of assistance. We’re confident you’ll find something that matches up with your interests, location and schedule.
Gather your friends and family, and kick off your 4th of July celebrations with the St. Pete Pier Run! This 4 Mile Run or Walk showcases the Pier, which opened in 2020, as well as St. Pete’s scenic waterfront. When you register, you can also donate to the run’s charity partner, St. Pete Youth Farm, a youth-led urban farm on a City of St. Petersburg-owned lot on the South side where people can access locally grown produce and learn to grow their own food. Email Michele@stpeterunfest.org or go to www.stpetepierrun.org to sign up.

Prepare to Volunteer During a Crisis
Hurricane season is upon us, and preparing now can make all the difference when an emergency arises. Feeding Tampa Bay is considered an essential facility – working hard to ensure vulnerable neighbors across their 10-county service territory have the food they need through any crisis that arises.
If you are willing and able to volunteer in crisis situations, like a hurricane or pandemic, become a part of the emergency response volunteer team at feedingtampabay.org/volunteer.
Tampa Bay Watch, Ocean Aid 360, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and Coastal Impact Fund are coordinating volunteer boaters to participate in a derelict crab trap and marine debris removal effort Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fort De Soto Park’s boat ramp and Belleair Causeway’s boat ramp. Walking volunteers are needed for shoreline cleanup at the two sites. Lunch, swag, and prizes will be provided free of cost. Learn more and sign up here.
Every Monday and Tuesday from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM, Reach St. Pete receives a new shipment of food they need help processing and stocking in preparation for food distributions. Please consider signing up to help if you have the physical capabilities. Learn more and sign up at reachstpete.org/volunteer.
