A new school year is just around the corner, and local nonprofits need your help ensuring students have the supplies they need to set them up for success. If you’re searching for the perfect volunteer opportunity, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that are in need of assistance. We’re confident you’ll find something that matches your interests, location and schedule.

Pinellas School Supply Drive

The Pinellas Education Foundation’s annual school supply drive ensures that students with the greatest need have the tools to succeed in the new school year. There are multiple ways to support this year’s campaign in person or online. Make a monetary donation, and we will purchase supplies for you. Shop our Amazon Wish List and ship them directly to us. You can also collect school supplies at your business, organization, or neighborhood and drop them off. Learn more about the school supply drive at pinellaseducation.org.

Food Pantry Donations Needed

The Lealman and Asian Neighborhood Family Center (LANFC) Food Pantry is always in need of canned goods, water, and breakfast items to assist our neighbors in need. You can drop off donations at 4255 56th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33714.

Gadgets for Good

Digital Inclusion St. Petersburg is collecting gadgets to support members of the community who do not have access to technology. Bring your old computer, printer, cellphone, stereo or any other electronic you are not using. Volunteers will recycle it and use the proceeds to donate fully refurbished computers to kids and families in the community. The Gadgets for Good drive will be held Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg. Click here to learn more.

Christmas in July

Help YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg stock the toy room for the annual YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program by shopping online registries during summer sale days like Amazon Prime Day (July 11-12) and Target Circle Week (July 9-15).

The Y has created online wish lists for the items and age groups needed the most. Shop online at Amazon and Target and items will be shipped directly to the Y.

Housing Stability Services

Hope Villages of America, a local nonprofit addressing hunger, housing and abuse, is looking for individuals and groups who want to make a difference in the community. Hope Villages provides affordable housing for families who are working towards self-sufficiency. As a volunteer for our Housing Stability Division, you can support the mission of Hope Villages in countless ways.
