If you’re searching for a way to give back to your community, the Catalyst’s Impact Connector is here to help. Each week, we feature five organizations in the Tampa Bay area that need your input, whether that’s time, talent, items, funding or simply awareness. We’re certain you’ll find something here that matches your interests and will positively impact the community.

Run for All Children registration is underway

The 11th Annual Run for All Children events returns Saturday, Sept. 28. The chip-timed 5K, one-mile and kids dash race is a chance for the community to lace up and support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital.

You can sign up to walk or run, and all ages and fitness levels are welcome. Online registration is available here.

Shop your support

Feeling crafty? You can also support Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital by visiting your local JOANN Fabric and Craft store now through Oct. 6. Customers can donate $1, $5, and $10 or round up their total at the register. In return, customers will receive a 40% off coupon to use during their next visit.

JOANN locations in the following counties will benefit Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital: Citrus, De Soto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota.

Distribute food donations at North Greenwood Resource Center

United Way Suncoast’s North Greenwood Resource Center addresses the need for financial stability by providing individuals with job search and preparation services, training and certifications and financial education through ongoing programs and partner relationships that meet the needs of employers and residents. Sign up here to volunteer at the resource center during this food distribution opportunity.

Volunteers needed at Urban Food Park

St. Petersburg’s Urban Food Park is a local hub for fresh food, knowledge and “food entertainment,” supporting a number of non-profits and causes throughout the community. If you enjoy giving back, connecting with nature and don’t mind a little dirt under your fingernails, then volunteering at the Urban Food Park could be the perfect fit.

Volunteers help with planting, weeding, watering, harvesting fresh produce and more. Times and responsibilities are flexible. For more information, visit urbanfoodpark.net or email mainoffice@urbanfoodpark.net.

Run to support those impacted by ovarian cancer

The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation One Step Closer race returns Saturday, Sept. 14. The race includes a 5K run/walk and a one-mile run/walk. Proceeds support the Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation, which was started in 2003 and to date has given more than $914,000 to assist people working to overcome cancer and still pay their bills.

Volunteers are also still needed to help at the race. Learn more about volunteering here and sign up to run here.

By engaging in these five impactful ways to give back, we can empower our communities and contribute to a more compassionate society. If your organization is seeking volunteers, donations or awareness, click here to submit your opportunity. We’ll get the word out to our readers.
