Five Ways To Support Your Neighbors This Week
‘Tis the season! Eating, gifting and giving back – in whichever order you so choose. It can be difficult to find ways to volunteer or donate, so the Catalyst has created a great tool available right on our website that is dedicated to highlighting many ways our community can support one another all year long.
Stay tuned as we highlight five ways to give back each week during the holiday season.
St. Pete Free Clinic – Make an immediate impact in your community by volunteering at the St. Pete Free Clinic! SPFC welcomes volunteers aged 16 and older. Head to their website, thespfc.org/volunteer, for volunteer orientation schedules.
Ready to Marie Kondo your house? Declutter and give back by donating gently used household goods and building supplies to a local Habitat ReStore. Habitat for Humanity of Pasco and West Pinellas provides limited FREE pickup for items, and drop-offs can be made at the following locations:
CLEARWATER

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is back with its Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program. Recipients of the program receive a Live Tree, ornaments, holiday dinner, books and toys – as well as complimentary programs and services throughout the year. Donate your time by delivering items or assisting with shopping, or help stock the toy room by donating new toys or heading to their wish list. They make it easy by linking to local retailers.
Often in our community, the only guaranteed meals some kids receive during the day are at school. The Kind Mouse of Pinellas County is dedicated to ensuring that our local youth don’t go hungry when school is out for the Holidays. Their Kids Helping Kids program allows area youth ages 5 through 18 a chance to give back to peers in the community. You can help support them by donating “Nibbles” from their needs list or monetary donations through their website.
Give someone in the community a little lift by helping those with financial hardships pay their utility bills. The Utility Assistance Program in St. Petersburg allows customers to easily make donations directly from their own utility bills. Funds are pooled and distributed to area service agencies.
