Fundraiser for O’Maddy’s manager to be held this weekend
Jennifer Rockholt-Kimbrell was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and has no health insurance.
Staff members at O’Maddy’s Bar & Grille are rallying behind one of their own after a devastating diagnosis.
General manager Jennifer Rockholt-Kimbrell learned that she has colon cancer about a month ago. “Jammin’ for Jenn,” a fundraiser to help with medical bills, is scheduled at the Gulfport restaurant Friday through Sunday.
“She’s very sick already. I think time is of the essence,” said O’Maddy’s co-owner Maddy Guenther. “I wanted to get something done before the holidays to alleviate some of the financial burden.”
Rockholt-Kimbrell does not have health insurance.
Initially starting as a server, she has worked at O’Maddy’s for approximately 16 years. Rockholt-Kimbrell has played a key role in the restaurant’s operations, Guenther added. “She takes care of all the little things that matter the most.”
To exemplify, she explained how Rockholt-Kimbrell oversees events such as weddings and memorial services at the establishment.
“She adds little touches like the decorations and flowers and puts her love into everything,” Guenther said. “Jenn is so good to everybody else and she would never ask for any help and she needs help.”
The weekend event is country-themed. This was chosen due to Rockholt-Kimbrell’s connection with her pet pig, Biggie Smalls.
It will feature a raffle, live music and auction items. Scheduled performers include Tony Wagner, Greg Czinke, Sticks and Stones Band and the Big Brother Band.
“Jenn is truly one of the most compassionate, selfless people I have ever known. She has always shown up for others without hesitation, often putting their needs before her own,” said Brittany Killius, a former employee of O’Maddy’s and a close friend of Rockholt-Kimbrell’s.
“She gives more than she has, loves without hesitation, and somehow still manages to make everyone around her feel seen, valued and cared for. Right now, Jenn needs that same love poured back into her.”
Rockholt-Kimbrell continues to work when she can, despite her diagnosis, Guenther added.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help with expenses. More than $17,500 has already been raised.

Would have been nice if O’Maddy’s had offered health insurance for a 16-year employee.
