St. Petersburg technology company GoZone WiFi is helping retailers at one of the biggest shopping malls in the United States know more about their customers.

GoZone, in a partnership with Safari Event Services, deployed its WiFi analytics and marketing solutions at American Dream, a megamall in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The mall, which opened in October, has more than 450 retail, food and specialty shops, as well as more than a dozen entertainment attractions. With more than 3 million square feet and 1,300 Cisco access points, it is GoZone’s largest deployment, a spokeswoman for the company said.

GoZone, led by Todd Myers, founder and CEO, is a software-as-a-service company that monetizes public WiFi networks. When GoZone’s clients offer free WiFi to their guests, GoZone’s software platforms give those clients data that helps them know more about those guests.

Data drives operational decisions, said Mark Rewers, director of IT at American Dream.

GoZone’s technology “makes us excited about using location and marketing analytics to develop a fresh approach to retail,” Rewers said. “The user-friendly dashboard not only gives us great insights into who our customers are, but how they behave within the venue.”

GoZone was selected as the WiFi analytics solution provider after evaluating the venue’s unique needs for custom development, integration and scalability, said Carl Van Dusen, chief operating officer at Safari Event Services, a technology solutions provider.

“While other providers in the market offer off-the-shelf products, we were able to take a truly customized approach to the partnership with GoZone,” Van Dusen said.

Right now, the GoZone-Safari partnership offers personalized visitor engagement and advanced analytics. In the future, it will drive full-funnel marketing campaigns and app downloads, and improve operational efficiencies, a news release said.

American Dream separately has a deal with OnGo to provide LTE service. LTE is the data plan that smartphones might automatically connect to, unlike the guest WiFi provided by GoZone.
