Years in Tampa Bay
2+ years and loving it!
Hustle (job)
Head writer, graphic designer, and chief ideathinkerupper at Joe Landi Creative. I draw the line at washing bottles.
What do you do?
Think & visualize and create A LOT. If I think it, I want to see it, shape it, work it, make it real. Then it’s quickly on to the next thing. There is no Off switch.
Why do you do it?
Because I can’t NOT do it. (Double Negative Bonus Points)! I love, and live for, the challenge of creative problem solving. To use the visual, verbal and conceptual parts of my brain to communicate the complex, simply. In the end, it’s/I’m all about ideas. Beginning of story!
What was your Catalyst? (How did you get started?)
After art school and a series of agency jobs, I had my own small creative shop in NJ. Fast forward to my immersion in, and making contributions to, the St. Pete creative scene. It’s a high bar and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
What’s a common misconception or unknown aspect of what you do?
Maybe that, because of the computer, it’s easy and anyone could do it? It’s not. It’s work. On the flip/verbal side of things, rhyme & alliteration are subliminal, go-to people pleasers. Funny, I almost forgot; humor too!
What’s the most challenging part of your Hustle?
I always have to keep challenging myself. Not falling back on things that have worked before. Lazy work, doesn’t work. Try to keep it new & fresh. Of course, hustling for new work is an inherent, hassle part of the hustle.
What’s the most valuable piece of business advice/insight that’s helped you?
Tried & true axioms like “Less is more” and “Keep it simple” are true for a reason. The best creative is simple and direct. It draws you in, hits you, gets you, and stays with you.
WHAT'S NEXT?
I’ve got a solid skill set with plenty in the tank. Looking to make the right connections, forge like-minded relationships, and find the right fit & opportunities to put those skills to work. Let’s create!
WHY ST. PETE?
Have you seen/been to St. Pete lately?
