Vice President of Marketing and Communications - Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties

Posted By Keara McGraw

Introduction

Professionally, Morgan Brochetti is a triple threat: Drive, passion and talent. There are a precious few of her in the local talent market and it makes our community all the more fortunate that she's chosen to focus her superpowers on helping people achieve home ownership. If there's one take away from experiencing a home dedication with Habitat, it's that the value of a home goes well beyond the wood and concrete used to build it. Morgan applies that same insight to all she does in the community and her value is making us all richer every day.

Years in St. Pete

I have lived in the Tampa Bay area basically, my entire life. I moved down here with my parents when I was about two. When we lived closer to the beach on Indian Rocks. Then I moved to Orlando when I was at school, UCF. Then came back to the area after graduation.

Organizations involved in

Right now I’m involved in AMPLIFY Clearwater through their inaugural leadership program which is called Leadership Amplified. I’m also really excited to get further involved with the nonprofit leadership center. They have a leadership certificate cohort and that’s coming up in the next couple of weeks. I am also a member of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Marketing Association

What gets you out of bed every day?

I love this question, opportunity. At Habitat, storytelling is our most powerful strategy for marketing and communications. The possibilities of finding new and different innovative ways to tell the stories of our homeowners and our affiliate are pretty much endless. The pandemic has been a big catalyst for this growth, but it allows for so many new things to try out. And super exciting and definitely energizing.

Why St. Pete?

For me, this area is home. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

What is one habit that you keep?

It’s a little difficult sometimes; crazy schedules and all, but working and exercise into the schedule is definitely a habit that I try to keep up with. Whether it’s kickboxing or cardio or weight training, a hour or so always helps clear my head and keep me focused on what’s coming up next.

Who are some people that influence you?

There are several, but I will keep the list short. My parents first off, they have been huge influence. I credit them for my drive and my work ethic. Then the families that partner with Habitat. They are so influential and inspirational. These homeowners normally come from situations that feel hopeless. And with a handout from Habitat, they make their dreams of homeownership come true, which allows them to completely change the future for their families, which is so inspirational. I’m just so grateful to be part of their journey in a small way. Also, Mike Sutton who is President and CEO of Habitat Pinellas and West Pasco. And my cohost on The Habicast which is our podcast. Mike is also someone I consider myself lucky to be working alongside him. As a leader with his drive and innovative thinking and his passion for the mission.

What is one piece of insight - a book, methodology, practice - that you would share with our readers?

As I mentioned before, I just started Leadership Amplified Program that AMPLIFY Clearwater is putting on. In our first session a couple of weeks ago, we discussed this concept of consumer versus partnership within the realm of leadership and teams. The goal with it is concept is, to be in a partnership relationship. Although, we are typically conditioned to be in the consumer mindset. But in the partnership concept, a leader thinks outside of themselves, takes ownership and creates their own experience. The facilitators posed a really interesting mantra for leaders that has stuck with me, “If it’s to be, it’s up to me.”

What is one thing you wish you knew about your work 3 years ago?

The extent of the affordable housing crisis that we’re facing in our community. I didn’t realize the impact that organizations like Habitat make on families who need assistance. I’m really excited to be a part of making that impact a reality, being on this side with the organization.

What’s next?

Continued growth definitely, personally and professionally. In the realm of Habitat. We’re in a growth mindset right. We’re the second largest affiliate out of nearly 1100 in the country based on new home-builds. And we’re constantly planning on how to serve more families and expand their impact. The opportunities within our community are so endless. There are so many different partnerships and different ways that we can improve our impact and expand it. And I’m looking forward to help supporting that growth.
