*(RECORDED FEB 2020)* Before Tim Ramsberger became COO of Visit St. Pete Clearwater, he was president of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Over 10 years, the St. Petersburg native helped launch and grow the Grand Prix into one of the premiere events of the year. His vision has helped put St. Petersburg-Clearwater on the map by rebuilding and rebranding the region's Capital Project and Elite Event programs.

What gets you out of bed every day?
My family, I’m motivated by taking care of my family.
Why St. Pete?
I was born and raised here so I was lucky. My parents came down here in 1954 with three kids. I’m one of six kids, so half of my family was born down here. It was a great place to grow up. I went away for a little while, spent 12 years in Orlando, but eventually came back home here, and it’s paradise.
What is one habit that you keep?
I love my outdoor activities. I have to spend time either in the water or on the water. I have to either paddle, surf, swim, sail, that’s what keeps me going. That’s a habit I have to continue.
Who are some people that influence you?
My parents, raising six kids on a teacher’s salary. My dad was a high school football coach here. He was a great motivator of people, and I meet people to this day who had my father in school, either at Boca Ciega High School, Northeast or St. Pete Junior College, back in the day. That remember my father and what an influence he had on their lives. Big influence on my growing up.
What is one piece of insight - a book, methodology, practice - that you would share with our readers?
You’ve gotta read “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.”
What is one thing you wish you knew about your work 3 years ago?
The widespread changes that we are facing today.
What’s next?
I would say I’m looking forward to European travel this summer.
