A thriller shot in St. Petersburg in 2022 will premiere Thursday on the Lifetime network, albeit with a new title. During production, it was known as Bad Tenant, and a free screening Thursday night at Coastal Creative was advertised under that name.

It airs, at 8 p.m. Thursday, as Roommate Regret.

Wellness coach Maryana Dvorska and Josh Cole star in the story of a first-time homeowner who rents her spare bedroom to a young British music producer. Turns out, he’s something of a psycho, and things get ugly.

The cast also includes the All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star known as The Bunny (real name: Laura Dennis), Veronica Long, Sam Benjamin (the film’s screenwriter), Lee Perkins and Courtney Weaver.

Co-produced by area resident David Yates (Dolphin Tale), Roommate Regret was directed by Hungarian/Australian Peter Foldy (Head, Heart & Balls … or Why I Gave Up Smoking Pot). It is produced by Foldy’s company, Filmstreet Productions.

According to Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, Roommate Regret was lensed almost entirely in downtown St. Pete in October and November 2022. The organization also said the film used a 33-person crew, and booked more than 200 hotel rooms, with additional direct spending in the area.

Visible in the film are the Main Event Boxing Gym, Johnny’s Restaurant and Pizza, Parkshore Grill, Three Birds Tavern, Clear Track Studios, Green Bench Brewing, the St. Petersburg Police Department and Straub Park.
