The classics redefined
The new Florida Orchestra new season doesn’t “officially” begin until early October, but there are a couple of exceptional teasers this month: They’ll play the music from How to Train Your Dragon as the animated family film screens in HD Sept. 14, interpret the music of Fleetwood Mac Sept. 21, and perform an evening of classic and contemporary country songs Sept. 28. All at the Mahaffey Theater.

On theater stages
The Off-Central (St. Pete) produces the drama Blackbird Sept. 5-15; LAB Theatre Project (Ybor City) ups the dramatic ante with the psychological thriller PER (Sept. 5-22), and Jobsite Theatre (Tampa) has the political comedy POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, Sept. 4-29.
The every month disclaimer: Events will be canceled, events will be added. Such is the way of the entertainment business. Watch this space for updates.
