SHINE postponed; other events canceled or moved
And so it begins. The Florida Orchestra was the first to capitulate to Hurricane Milton as it roars towards Florida, postponing until further notice the“For the Love of Italy” morning matinee concerts – Wednesday at Ruth Eckerd Hall and Thursday at the Mahaffey Theater.
TFO administrators are hoping to reschedule these performances.
Both performances of The Florida Orchestra’s “Bette, Babs and Beyond” (Mahaffey Theater and Straz Center) have been canceled.
SHINE Mural Festival director Jenee Priebe announced the postponement of the city’s premiere art event. The public art festival was scheduled to begin Friday with a reception at the Morean Arts Center; that event has been rescheduled for Oct. 18.
“Mural painting will begin as soon as its safe to do so,” Priebe said, “and as soon as we’re able to get lifts delivered to the sites. I am hopeful painting can begin by Monday, Oct. 13. We will update as we know more.”
Canceled are the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances of The Boy Who Loved Batman at Tampa’s David A. Straz Center.
All performances at the Palladium Theater through Saturday have been indefinitely postponed.
At American Stage, Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash is canceled Wednesday and Thursday.
What the Constitution Means to Me at Stageworks Theatre is canceled Wednesday and Thursday.
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance has postponed Saturday’s October Second Saturday ArtWalk.
Comedian Bert Kreischer’s Hurricane Helene relief benefit concert, originally scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 12 at Ruth Eckerd Hall, has been rescheduled for Nov. 15.
The Off-Central theater company has postponed this week’s planned opening of The Hollow. Opening week had already been postponed before the arrival of Hurricane Helene; the show will now run Oct. 16-20.
Friday’s Mahaffey Theater concert by the band America has been rescheduled for Dec. 7.
