The City of St. Petersburg announced Thursday morning that the new St. Pete Pier will officially open at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30.

The announcement was made with a 55-second video featuring Mayor Rick Kriseman, Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin and others. “It’s the beginning of a new era in St. Pete,” Kriseman said in the video. “The future has arrived in the form of a dynamic, 26-acre pier district.”

The projected final cost for the multi-use pier – featuring restaurants, a wooded walking area, an outdoor amphitheater and more – is $92 million.

I am very excited to see the all the people engage in all the new pier features soon. I especially like all the activities for the kids and family features. Our community has something to be very proud of and, even though I was sceptical at the beginning, I am now very enthusiastic about this project. St Petersburg is now a world class City!
