Community Action Stops Abuse (CASA) is the official domestic violence center for southern Pinellas County.

In 1977, Sr. Margaret Freeman founded CASA, which continues to prioritize safety for domestic abuse survivors. In its early days, the organization housed up to eight survivors at a time, but with growing financial support over the years, CASA established a 133-bed domestic violence center in 2015. Survivors also benefit from CASA’s many programs, which include individual and group counseling, financial assistance and a youth center for child supervision. CASA takes a community-based approach in ending domestic abuse by advocating for anti-bullying and healthy relationship curricula in schools.
