R’Club provides care for more than 4,000 Pinellas County students, to help out working parents.
In 1974, retired principal Barbara Finck noticed that there was no place for children to go after they got out of school. Finck found that more than 3,000 students were classified as “latchkey” children, and developed R’Club in 1976 to respond to the need of child supervision. Since then, the nonprofit organization has provided quality and affordable childcare, and incorporates development programs to prepare children for academic success and leadership. These programs are suited for children who are in preschool up to middle school. They provide hands-on learning activities, reading and tutoring. Students also have a chance to spend time outside, playing games that teach team building and sportsmanship.
