PGA TOUR Superstore, a national golf equipment, apparel and accessory chain, will be entering the St. Petersburg market.

Company leaders signed a lease for a 29,600-square-foot space at the Crosswinds Shopping Center (2020 66th Street) last week. It is tentatively scheduled to open in early 2026.

Joining a Tampa location, which opened in 2022, the new store is another recent investment in the region. For PGA TOUR Superstore chief marketing officer Jill Thomas, the decision was logical.

“There’s a lot of green space for us to be in,” she explained to the Catalyst. “So it makes perfect sense to put another store in the Tampa Bay area.”

Thomas credited the community and golf market as key factors.

“All of Florida, especially the central area and the beaches are so focused on golf,” she said. “There are so many golf courses and there’s just a lot of customers there.”

Choosing the Crosswinds Shopping Center was a strategic decision, Thomas continued. The PGA TOUR Superstore team had been looking at the property for at least a year.

“We’re very particular about the locations that we go into,” she said. ”We have a certain experience that we want to deliver so we need a certain amount of square footage and have to wait to find the right place at the right moment.”

Interactive experiences and services are a core part of the PGA TOUR Superstore brand, Thomas added.

The company plans to offer lessons from certified instructors, club fittings and repairs at the St. Pete location. It will likely include the PGA TOUR Superstore STUDIO experience, which helps customers with customized fittings, she said.

Additionally, the shop will feature simulators for guests who want to play virtually. Thomas believes that this is important, especially because of St. Pete’s youthful environment.

“We want to make sure we have enough offerings for both of those consumers – the ones who are in there looking for their numbers and want to get fit,” Thomas said, “but also those who just want to have fun playing golf.”

The new store will be sport-driven, she added.

“We want to serve the golf community and all parts of that community,” Thomas continued. “Whether that’s young golfers, women, people who are new to golf or people who have been playing their whole life.”

Thomas also highlighted the company’s desire to impact each area it opens a store in.

“Every one of our stores has a team that is focused on what we call community grants,” she explained. “So every store will give back local dollars to the local community and they decide where and how those dollars are invested.”

The St. Pete and Tampa stores join other Florida locations in Orlando, Sarasota, Altamonte, Delray Beach, Estero, Jacksonville, Lady Lake, Naples, Palm Beach Gardens and Plantation.

PGA TOUR Superstore will most likely open more shops in the Bay area in the future, Thomas said.
