Pinellas County Economic Development announces April workshops, classes

Pinellas County Economic Development’s April business workshops, classes and events have been announced. Unless indicated, all events take place at the PCED Epicenter, 13805 58th Street N. Suite 1-200, in Clearwater.

April 3 (Tuesday): Starting a Business. This two-hour session (12-2 p.m.) is a guide to the necessary licenses, permits, legal documents and requirements to do business in the State of Florida. $10.

April 10 (Tuesday): Five Steps to Cybersecurity. The BBB’s five-step approach is designed to help you identify and protect your business’s vital data and technology assets, and how to detect, respond to and recover from a cybersecurity incident. 12- 2 p.m, $20.

April 19 (Thursday): Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Community Conversation. A free monthly dialogue (9-11 a.m.) about business with the Pinellas Board of County Commissioners, in partnership with the Purchasing and Economic Development departments, to improve and enhance the SBE program.

April 24 (Tuesday): Business Plans. For new or experienced business owners – discussing how to manage growth, communicate ideas, borrow money and more. The overview covers easy financials, a simple pitch format, and performance tracking. 5:30-7:30 p.m., $20.

  • Pinellas County Schools’ STEM Expo takes place Saturday, April 28, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. on April 28 at the USFSP Student Center, 200 6th Ave. S. Organizers are seeking out Pinellas STEM employers to engage and inspire students at the free event – attended by more than 3,200 people in 2017.   • Coming Wednesday, May 2 – the PCED’s Export Finance Solutions seminar. Detailing the products, programs and services available to mitigate risks associated with export transactions, i.e. letters of credit; documentary collections; working capital loans; foreign receivables insurance; and more. 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the EpiCenter. $25 registration includes continental breakfast.
