Former 1926 feed store for sale
A 10,870 gross square-foot flexible warehouse, at 1258 19th Street N. in the Woodlawn District of St. Petersburg, has listed for sale with an asking price of $1.33 million. Built in 1926 and with the original structure intact, this building is eligible for historical designation and tax incentives.
In 1913, when Pinellas County was mostly horse farms, orange groves and dirt roads, Boxford Neeld opened a feed store at 7th Street and 1st Avenue S., St. Petersburg. Needing more space, he, along with Geo Gordon, opened the Neeld-Gordon Co. Garden Center Inc. at the Woodlawn location in 1926.
Rick Golding and his partners, George and Peggy Coston, took over the store in 1975. As big box establishments such as Home Depot began to emerge, sales declined. Golding, who had previously worked in the lawn mowing industry, began selling lawn motor parts and offering repairs in addition to the continuing sale of agricultural and garden products.
The store remained open until 2019 when it was sold to Florida Elm LLC. In April 2021, Natalie Conner, who owns two Love My Dog Resorts and Mutts & Martinis in St. Petersburg, purchased the property in 2021 for $600,000 under the registered name Chillax for Pets LLC.
In the front of the building are private offices and a dedicated conference/showroom space with brand-new subfloors. In the back is an expansive open warehouse.
The 0.32-acre parcel is under IT zoning, allowing for such uses as a high-end showroom, auto shop, craft brewery or art studio. The land backs up to a railroad, is next door to Outcast Brewing and adjacent to Woodlawn Park.
