Places This Week: Mad Hatters Tea Bar up for sale

A weekly roundup of notable local real estate news.
Mad Hatters Ethnobotanical Tea Bar, located at 4685 28th Street N., St. Petersburg, has listed for sale. The asking price is $800,000.
Judah and Levi Love purchased the property, then biker bar MacDaddy’s Liquor Lounge, in 2012 for $153,000. They first turned it into Broken Tusk, touting it as St. Pete’s newest gay bar. Two years later they wanted to try something different. Broken Tusk closed in April 2014 and Mad Hatters debuted one month later.
The bar serves exotic teas, like kava, kratom and herbal loose leaves, along with nitro coffee, cold brew and boba milk teas. It also offers a hookah lounge, pool and ping pong tables, board games and food trucks.
The one-story, free-standing concrete block structure was built in 1978. It covers 2,376 heated square feet plus an additional 1,000 square feet of porch and canopy space. Ten parking spots are available onsite.
The .28-acre lot is zoned C-3 which allows for retail stores, restaurants, offices and other uses. The property is located on one of the highest points in Pinellas County and did not sustain any damage from last season’s storms.
The existing furniture, fixtures and equipment may be purchased for an additional cost.
