“It’s bittersweet but time for new adventures,” the owners wrote on Facebook. “We have been around for a long time and love all of you! We appreciate all the love and support from our customers that most of you turned into friends and family! With that being said, please respect our staff and keep questions to a minimum. This has been our home for a long time.”

Shiso Crispy secures brick-and-mortar location

The popular Shiso Crispy food truck business, known for its dumplings, has secured its first-ever brick-and-mortar shop.

The new 2,600-square-foot restaurant space is in Tyrone Gardens in St. Pete, next to the new, under-construction Crunch Fitness.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me. The insane amount of success I have had clearly wasn’t done alone,” owner Ronicca Whaley wrote on Facebook.

“The entire area is being renovated. It’s going to be so beautiful. It couldn’t have been better timing,” she said, explaining the site will be used as restaurant, but will also supply the food trucks.

“I’m also gearing up to start wholesaling our sauces and dumplings. The place is a shell right now and is going to take five months to be built. So many cool things in store. The place is going to be incredible,” she said.

Shiso Crispy was previously slated to be one of several restaurateurs opening a location inside the new food hall at Fusion 1560, an apartment building in the Edge District; however, said Whaley, the space was too confining for her operations.

Whaley was also previously eyeing a brick-and-mortar location on Central Avenue.
