Political Party with Adam Smith: Checking in with a MAGA supporter

This week’s Political Party with Adam Smith features one of Tampa Bay’s most prominent supporters of Donald Trump: Cliff Gephart, organizer of a massive MAGA boat parade in Pinellas County and owner of Largo’s Conservative Grounds Coffee shop that bills itself as a place “where rational, conservative, moral, God loving people congregate without the scourge of liberalism.”

We wanted to take take Gephart’s pulse about the future of the Make America Great Again movement and the president’s unsubstantiated claims of widespread electoral fraud.

“I don’t think America is going to crumble into some deep, dark place. I do feel like there have been some things that have been a little odd with the election, some things that the mainstream media will not talk about,” said Gephart, who expects Trump will remain a huge force in politics even out of office.

“I think he’s going to be the leader of the party until somebody else has greater influence, and I don’t see that happening.”

    Hi Adam,

Cliff may not have recognized that the boat has already sunk!

THANK YOU! For this respectful honest and civil discourse something I feel is sorely missing in today’s America- often with equal blame on both sides of the spectrum. As a conservative that pledged to cut off my little finger if Trump got the nomination in 216 (not because I hate him- just never thought the political establishment would allow it) I can understand his detractors criticisms while still supporting the MAGA message. But in today’s work it seems every conversation is an echo chamber or screaming match- so THANK YOU for presenting a fair and balanced (cringe) exchange of ideas and views.
