In her book Disrupters: Success Strategies from Women Who Break the Mold, Dr. Patti Fletcher discusses the value of networking. “Our wonder women don’t just network inside their industry,” Fletcher writes. “They purposely cultivate a network that spans multiple industries.”

Fletcher, one of America’s most sought-after business authors and speakers, will talk common-sense strategy – touching on ways to spark the fire of imagination and possibility – at the sixth annual Working Women State Conference, Sept. 14 at The Bryan Glazer Family JCC in Tampa.

Disruptors conveys Fletcher’s deeply-held belief that all leaders – female or male – need to think outside the rigid box of their own profession, and network, absorb and learn with an eye towards professional diversity.

The best leaders never get to the finish line … alone, Fletcher says. Great leaders, she insists, create change by helping the people around them to practice behaviors and mindsets that unify teams, instead of divide them.

“When one executive, formerly the CEO of a software company, sought to be on the board of directors of another company, she looked outside of IT,” she writes in the book. “’I want to keep learning. I could be valuable to a software company, but I want to move out of my comfort zone. That’s really the only way you grow,’ she told me.”

More than 300 attendees are expected at the 2018 conference, to receive leadership advice, career guidance and more from more than a dozen high-profile female leaders across a vast spectrum of disciplines.

“For the past six years,” said CEO and founder of Working Women of Tampa Bay Jessica Rivelli in a press release, “the Working Women Conference has given attendees life-changing opportunities to connect with other women and to create new professional and personal roadmaps for their lives.”

The afternoon keynote address will be delivered by Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide.

Among the other speakers:

Lauren Weiner, CEO & Donna Huneycutt, COO of WWC

Kelly Addington & Becca Tieder, Co-Founders of One Student

Ashley Brundage, Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion at PWC
