Sirata’s next chapter: Beachfront hotel joins Hilton after makeover

For generations of families, the Sirata Beach Resort has been more than a place to stay on St. Pete Beach. It’s where parents brought their children, who eventually returned with children of their own, and Hilton is betting that history is worth preserving.

Following a $25 million renovation, the Sirata Beach Resort has officially joined Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, a portfolio of independent boutique hotels that retain their own identity while operating under the Hilton umbrella.

Unlike many hotel brands that seek uniformity across properties, Tapestry Collection looks for hotels with an established story.

“We partner with boutique hotels that have a story to tell,” said Karen Gee-McAuley, who performs pubic relations for the Sirat.

For the Sirata, that story stretches back to the 1960s, when it first opened along the Gulf beaches. Over the decades, the resort has become a fixture on St. Pete Beach, welcoming generations of vacationers while the surrounding beach community evolved into one of Florida’s premier tourism destinations.

“This is a place that’s generational,” Gee-McAuley said. “Grandparents, children, and their children will stay here.”

The renovation marks the largest investment in the property’s recent history.

All 228 guest rooms have been renovated, along with the lobby, restaurants, fitness center, pool deck and outdoor gathering areas. The goal wasn’t to reinvent the Sirata, but to modernize it while preserving the relaxed beachfront atmosphere that has made it a longtime destination.

The resort now features redesigned guestrooms, refreshed dining venues, expanded outdoor social spaces and updated amenities while maintaining direct access to the Gulf beaches that have long defined the property.

General Manager Brad Cochran said the renovated resort is designed to serve a broad mix of visitors, from families returning for annual vacations to business travelers and wedding guests.

The move also reflects continued investment in St. Pete Beach’s hospitality industry as tourism remains one of the area’s primary economic drivers.

Joining Hilton’s Tapestry Collection gives the Sirata access to Hilton’s worldwide reservation system and Hilton Honors loyalty program while allowing the resort to maintain its own branding and local character. Rather than becoming another standardized Hilton property, the Sirata will continue operating under its own name as one of the collection’s independent hotels.

That distinction, Gee-McAuley said, is what attracted Hilton to the property in the first place.
